What is THCa?

THCa is a type of cannabinoid which occurs naturally in the cannabis plant. It does not have psychoactive qualities when consumed in its unprocessed form. THCa becomes psychoactive when smoked, vaped, or cooked into edibles through a process known as decarboxylation.

Is THCa legal?

Cannabis flower containing THCa is a federally legal hemp product. The 2018 Farm Bill defines hemp as cannabis that has less than 0.3% or less Delta 9 THC. Tennessee does not classify THCA as a controlled substance, and there are no explicit possession limits for THCa in Tennessee. In Tennessee it is legal for a person age 21 or older to purchase and possess THCa. You don’t need a medical card to purchase or possess THCa.
